Pluralsight Gears up for Surging Growth by Hiring Former Skullcandy VP Brett Barlow as New CMOBy Aaron Skonnard
Today we’re excited to announce another key addition to the Pluralsight leadership team. We’ve hired former Skullcandy executive Brett Barlow as our new chief marketing officer. Brett comes to us with more than 17 years of experience in marketing, advertising, digital, and public relations including leadership roles at SkullCandy, Logoworks (now HP) and Omniture (now Adobe) – all major success stories in the state of Utah.
Hiring Brett bookends a series of blue-chip hires here at Pluralsight — including the arrivals earlier this year of chief financial officer Greg Woodward, from Hunstman Gay Global Capital, and vice president of content acquisitions Chad Utley, from MarketStar — who will help us navigate our rising trajectory in the online education industry.
As Skullcandy’s vice president of interactive marketing and e-commerce, Brett steered the leading audio brand’s image during its leap from $20 million to $300 million in revenue, over a 5 year period, which culminated in the company’s 2011 IPO.
I am thrilled by Brett’s arrival and the possibilities he brings to our company. Adding him to our leadership team was paramount to our maturity as an organization. We needed someone like Brett with a proven track record of accelerating through the turns of major revenue growth, and I believe attracting someone of Brett’s caliber is proof positive that the Pluralsight business model is highly scalable and sustainable. We plan to lean on Brett’s unique experience as we push for new heights in 2014 and beyond.
