Pluralsight 2013: New partnerships create opportunities for allBy Aaron Skonnard
But what does Pluralsight mean to us?
For our staff, it means answering the call to democratize tech education for people around the world. That’s what drives us to relentlessly search for the best authors and to build the most-comprehensive library of practical, hands-on training out there.
To us, Pluralsight means delivering more value to you every day.
When we took $27.5M in Series A funding at the start of this year, we promised we would expand our library from 400 courses to more than 1,000, and dive into new subject areas that were important to you. And we’ve done just that. We now have 1,200 courses and over 4,000 hours of training. Through acquiring PeepCode, TrainSignal and Tekpub, we brought on hundreds of IT admin and open source courses to help you round out your skillset. And the best part? We’ve grown our content exponentially without raising the cost for you. Our prices have not and will not change.
How do we do it?
We’ve built an ecosystem where tech learners and tech authors both win. We set up a royalty model that encourages the brightest minds in our industry to create top courses that you want to watch. As we offer a wider variety of training, our authors reap the benefits of a larger audience and revenue pool.
This year, we’ll have our first author to earn more than $1M and many more who will leverage Pluralsight as their main source of income. Being an author for Pluralsight isn’t just about churning out courses. It’s an opportunity for people to take a new path in their careers, explore their passion for teaching, build their personal brands and truly make a difference in people’s lives. Interested? We’re always looking for new experts to join one of the most passionate groups of professionals in the business.
Bringing key talent into our author lineup was one of the driving forces behind our recent acquisitions. We’re thrilled to add a wealth of IT admin knowledge from TrainSignal’s instructors and to grow upon the innovative style of PeepCode’s Geoffrey Grosenbach and Tekpub’s Rob Conery. We know that you value their unique and engaging storytelling, and so do we! We acquired these companies, in part, because of the different teaching approaches they bring to our library, which complement our more traditional training tutorials. No matter how you want to learn or what you enjoy watching, we aim to have exactly what you’re looking for.
And we’re just getting started.
We’ve accomplished much of what we’ve set out to do this year, but we won’t stop building on this solid foundation as long as we see new opportunities to bring you more. More value. More courses. More authors to inspire you. And more knowledge and skills to help you succeed.
We can’t wait to share what we have in store for next year.
